Healthcare Multidisciplinary Teams The Sociotechnical...

Answer to question 1 [1][2][3][4] I am describing my view regarding the quality of the article named ‘Healthcare multidisciplinary teams: The sociotechnical approach for an integrated system wide perspective’ below. A. Introduction: Multidisciplinary team working is a complex process which occurs when a wide range of health professionals from one or more diverse disciplines with different but complementary skills, knowledge, and experience, working together to deliver comprehensive health care. The authors attempted to analyse how multidisciplinary teams are promoted and supported by different aspects of organizational patterns, as they thought that traditional multidisciplinary teams approach focuses on singular aspects of the†¦show more content†¦Then they studied how this multidisciplinary team worked together by disrupting the existing routine and professional boundaries, and how they adopted new technologies and learning process. †¢ Data collection- The data were collected from top four hospitals in Italy, where TAVI procedures were adopted strongly as the authors exclusively focused on TAVI procedure. The researchers arranged a total of 27 interviews over a 6-month period with a structured interview protocol which was designed according to the modified STS model to gain diverse and relevant information from each individual participated in the study, as participants were selected from each site of the organization. During each interview, two members of researcher team and one of three authors as research assistant were present. First the data were tape recorded and then transcribed into written text form. Finally, the researchers were codifying those transcribed texts. †¢ Data analysis- The data were analysed systematically in different steps and all the authors reviewed those data blindly to maintain the quality of the study. Then they compared their findings and reconciled any deviation from their initial data and then used the consolidated checklist to reach a satisfactory level of consistency. As the authors tried to research the modified STS for the first time, the qualitative study was the most appropriate method to use.

Types of Image Compression for Medical Imaging Essay

Medical imaging, as we all know, is the process of taking images of various parts of the human body for diagnostic and surgical purposes. Some of the popular medical imaging modalities are X-ray radiography, Magnetic resonance imaging, Medical ultrasound, Computed tomography etc. Since, these images contain clinical data of extreme importance for treatment follow-ups and are acquired at cost of radiation exposure, infrastructure, money and time involved. Thus, once acquired, the medical imaging data should not be disposed off casually, instead it should be retained so that it can be utilized for various medical applications and the chances of repeated testing can be minimized. Also, maintaining electronic health records of patients serves†¦show more content†¦In other words an optimal compression ratio should be chosen so as to suit the needs of medical examination, without compromising with its diagnostic value [2]. 1.2 Types of Compression Image compression can be classified into two types viz. lossless and lossy compression. Lossless compression is the technique of reducing the size of an image without any virtual loss of information. It is also known as reversible form of image compression since the image obtained after compression and then decompression resembles the original one. Typical compression ratios that can be achieved ranges from 1.5 to 3.6 [3]. Conversely, lossy or irreversible form of compression techniques are those in which some or the other information is always lost. Though, lossy compression algorithms are capable of compressing images at ratios much higher than that achieved from lossless compression thus, ensuring faster rates of transmission and lesser storage space. However, the regenerated image is not guaranteed to be an exact replica of the original image, as some data is lost permanently, which will cause error during decompression. Typical compression ratios achieved may range from 5 to 50. Though lossy data compression is often acceptable but the game is not that easy when it comes to medical images. The data from medical imaging examination should possess certain requirements for fidelity [3]. 1.3 Barriers to image compression Lossy compression:Show MoreRelatedMammography: X-ray and Breast Tissue Essay1676 Words   |  7 PagesNovember 8, 1895. Eighteen years later mammography got its rudimentary beginnings due to these ionizing x-rays. In 1913, Berlin Albert Soloman, a German surgeon, was among the first to discover that breast cancer could be radiographed. In a 1927 medical textbook the first instance of a radiograph of a living person’s breast taken by Otto Kleinschmidt was published. The Colonial Experience free essay sample

A paper which looks at the effect colonialism had on the people of Upper Africa. The paper discusses the effects on the local African people as a result of French colonialism of Upper Africa at the end of the nineteenth century. Some of the issues covered in the paper are the economic exploitation of the population resulting in dislocation or death, the destruction of the traditional social structure and lack of education. The paper discusses how the impact of colonialism is still felt today. Today, educated Africans struggle to find their place in a world of high technology and mass communications. They blame the colonial legacy for the failure of state after state, the backwardness of their economies, and the low levels of education, health, and welfare. Yet it was the colonial experience that brought them the very tools with which they question and criticize. Innovation and the hope for material improvement are as much products of the colonial era as the disintegration of traditional society.
